The role of medical device markets in China and India can be compared to those of the EU and the USA markets.  China is undergoing its biggest reform of its rural medical system, which could result in new and advanced 30,000+ hospitals and other medical facilities. Both China and India are becoming the most sought after regions by the medical device industry as the middle class is increasing and more people are seeking better quality of life.

The Chinese state FDA (SFDA) regulations are constantly going through changes and adaptations leading to the introduction of new devices.  The Indian market is still struggling to create and implement a single, clear dedicated legislation for the regulation of medical devices and IVDs.   Other countries such as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand have varied regulation processes and have integrated modality and principal of either the USA or the EU medical device regulations.
